Anthony Russo Comments on if CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR Toy Leaks Are Really Spoilers

This post may contain SPOILERS for CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR. You've been warned.

Unless you've been intentionally avoiding them, there's been some potential spoiler leaks for some of the CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR movie toys that are coming in April. More specifically, the rumors surrounding if Ant-Man tries out another method to his suit.

Obviously, this is referring to if Ant-Man will grow large and be Giant-Man in the movie. There's been image leaks for a Funko POP figure and a LEGO set with Giant-Man being in both instead of Ant-Man. (Google it to see the possible leaks.)

Logic states that there's been Marvel movie toys which have come out and not accurately reflected what happens in the movie. Past examples are Red Skull being included in the CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER action figure line, the Mandarin fighting Iron Man in a little attack vehicle in a LEGO set and another LEGO movie set having Hank Pym wearing an Ant-Man suit.

None of these examples panned out even though many websites blew it out of proportion with the implication it was going to be in the movie. Over time, and since these examples were proven wrong, sites have since been a bit less inclined to post claims that toys reveal spoilers.

Once again, Marvel Studios has to do some damage control with this latest toy leak of Giant-Man possibly being in Civil War. Anthony Russo addressed it (via GeekGirlAuthority) while at Wizard World New Orleans last weekend.

"[T]hey’ve made a lot of toys for other films that aren’t in the movies... [and this is] one of those situations that could be somewhat perplexing to the audience if he were not to appear in the movie.”

It could be a joke in the film where a hero asks Ant-Man if he could grow big as well as become tiny and the toys might be taking that a step further by giving fans a Giant-Man figure to play with or collect. Whatever the case is here, it's something that will be a hot topic until CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR hits theaters on May 6.
