Emily Blunt Says She Doesn't Know Who CAPTAIN MARVEL is and Any Casting Info is Rumor

This is one of those moments where an actor could be telling the truth or she could be lying to create misdirection. Regardless, Emily Blunt told MTV that all the CAPTAIN MARVEL casting rumors is just pure rumor especially because her phone hasn't rang and she doesn't really know who the character is.

“I’ve not had a phone call about it. Not one whisper of Captain Marvel has come my way. Promise... I don’t even know who Captain Marvel is!”

There has been a few rumors making the rounds on the web the past few months talking about a potential interest Marvel Studios might have in Blunt. CAPTAIN MARVEL is still about two years away from when it should start filming, so there's still plenty of time for the rumor mill to churn out a few more actor names for the leading role before the first 'short list' of actors is reported by one of the Hollywood news outlets.

Plus, there's also the fact that in April the studio hired writers to crack the story on CAPTAIN MARVEL. Once the script is nearing a point where Marvel Studios can hire a director then after that will they begin the search for their leading lady.

That is unless the studio goes the route of Black Panther where Chadwick Boseman was cast before a BLACK PANTHER solo movie director was hired. But that is a rare case seeing as how Black Panther is being introduced in CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR before his solo movie. In this possible scenario Marvel may need to cast Captain Marvel prior to AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR, Part I if they are planning to intro her is that film before her solo movie.

CAPTAIN MARVEL releases in theaters on November 3, 2018.
