Obi-Wan Kenobi Actor Ewan McGregor Says He Wants to Return to His Star Wars Role

There's been rumors stating that actor Ewan McGregor was interested in returning to a galaxy far, far away, but there were never any quotes from the actor. Until now.

The Hollywood Reporter caught up with McGregor this weekend and he wants to be Obi-Wan Kenobi on the big screen once again.

"I'd be happy to do the story from episodes three where I finish up and Alec Guinness [who played the older Kenobi in the original Star Wars movies] starts."

It is great to hear that he is happy to return the the role of Kenobi especially since he was the best performance in the Prequel Trilogy. Plus, he's a bit older now and he could step into the role as an older version of the character who has been on Tatooine watching over the growth of Luke Skywalker.

This news comes at an interesting time because just a few weeks back there was a rumor claiming McGregor would reprise his Kenobi role in a standalone Anthology movie. And perhaps a trilogy of Anthology films following Kenobi between STAR WARS: REVENGE OF THE SITH and STAR WARS: A NEW HOPE.

Definitely stay tuned because this story could develop in the coming months with Lucasfilm having a large presence at both the 2015 San Diego Comic-Con International and at Disney's D23 Expo.
