Rumor: Many Bothans Died to Bring You These STAR WARS Spin-Off Movie Plans

Due to the excessive nature of all of the Star Wars rumors that have been hitting the web over the past few months, The Daily SuperHero stopped reporting on most of them because whether they are real or not some things are best left unknown until you're in the theater. However, sometimes a rumor is so good and so juicy that it's tough to not write up a post about it.

This is the case with SlashFilm's latest Star Wars rumor but this own doesn't have to do with the plot of Star Wars: The Force Awakens and has everything to do with Disney and Lucasfilm's first Star Wars spin-off movie, written by Gary Whitta (The Book of Eli) and to be directed by Gareth Edwards (Godzilla [2014]), that is coming in 2016.

Out of principle, here's a potential SPOILER ALERT for the Star Wars purists who do not want to know anything about the first spin-off film. You've been warned...

According to SlashFilm's sources, the first spin-off movie will focus on a group of bounty hunters who stole the plans for the first Death Star!

"That’s right, the story is set during the A New Hope era. However, it’s not the Rebel Alliance as we’d all assumed.
"As rumor has it, the story follows a group of bounty hunters who were hired for the job [of stealing the Death Star plans] — think the Seven Samurai or Suicide Squad meets Ocean’s Eleven in the world of Star Wars."

Previously there has been rumors of spin-off movies that could be about: Yoda, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Rogue Squadron, Han Solo and Boba Fett. If this new report is true, then not only can you use Boba Fett in the spin-off but there's an opportunity to have Darth Vader make an appearance too. Having one of the most popular villains in cinema history appear in a Star Wars film is something Disney probably wants really, really, really bad. And this type of spin-off could allow them to do it.

Stay tuned...
