How Kitty Pryde Can Send Wolverine Back in Time in X-MEN DAYS OF FUTURE PAST

In the comic story arc for Days of Future Past, Kitty Pryde is the mutant who travels back in time to save the future. In the 90s animated X-Men series it's Bishop. Now, in the new movie X-Men Days of Future Past, it's Wolverine who goes back in time but he is aided by Pryde.

"Kitty Pryde is a young mutant who has the ability to send a person's consciousness back in time to their younger self," says actor Ellen Page in the below video. In X-Men: The Last Stand she was shown to only have the power to become intangible and move through solid objects. She has obviously grown more powerful and both Charles Xavier and Magneto concoct a plan for her send Logan back in time.

Wolverine actor Hugh Jackman also chimed in stating that since Pryde can normally only send people back in time a couple of weeks, Logan's healing factor can withstand the pain to be sent back 50 years into the past. Yet, there's still a timeframe to stick to otherwise Pryde will have to let go and the end result could be deadly to even someone who is virtually immortal like Wolverine.
