THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 Will See Peter Parker and Harry Osborn Try to Rekindle Their Friendship

Since Spider-Man has decades and decades of comic book stories to pull from, it has to be hard for director Marc Webb to find adapted story lines for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 that are new and fresh. However, he managed to find an interesting angle in The Amazing Spider-Man focusing on the mystery behind Peter Parker's missing father.

Continuing this mystery in the sequel, due out on May 2, 2014, we already know things are moving forward to introduce many of Spidey's rogues gallery. While Electro will be the main villain of the sequel others like Rhino, Green Goblin, Venom, Doc Ock, Vulture and many others have already been teased through trailers and the viral website for The Daily Bugle.

One of the more intriguing parts of the sequel will be the introduction of Harry Osborn. Portrayed by Dean Dehaan, this version of Harry looks to be a darker one and his relationship with Peter is going to be a bit different since they haven't seen each other for several years. Dehaan discussed this with Digital Spy.

"When you first meet Harry he's just graduated from high school, and he has to come back to New York to help deal with OsCorp, and its legacy, and his father [Norman Osborn, played by Chris Cooper]. He also sees Peter Parker for the first time in a long time; they were childhood friends. So it's really about Harry having a friendship with Peter and an allegiance to Peter, but also being the heir apparent to OsCorp, and having to deal with that.
"...[T]hey haven't been friends for such a long time, but they definitely both feel like they used to be best friends, and ideally they would love to rekindle that friendship."

The actor then briefly spoke about how OsCorp is the source of all these villains who are being introduced into this new Spider-Man movie universe.

"It's becoming very obvious that all of these villains are originating from within OsCorp, in one way or the other."

What is still being kept under wraps—but has been teased in the trailers—is how Harry becomes the Green Goblin. This is something fans may not find out until the film releases in theaters but stay tuned since the marketing campaign and promotional push for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is starting to hit its stride now.
