X-FORCE Writer Jeff Wadlow Hints at Lots of 'Grey' Which Could Point Toward a Certain Incarnation of the Team

Continuing his press tour for Kick-Ass 2, writer/director Jeff Wadlow has once again talked not about his new movie but the one he is currently writing, X-Force. While talking with the website Bleeding Cool, Wadlow hinted at what version of an X-Force team his script might follow.

"I’m very deep into it. I can’t really say much as Fox has asked me not to but, again, it’s not a reboot or re-imagining of the X cinematic universe. Tonally it will fit in, quite well with all the other movies… but then I think the other movies cover a wide range of tones. It’s certainly not going to be tonally similar to Kick-Ass.
"I’m going to take some big ideas from the X-universe and flip them, I think in an interesting way. It’s hard to talk about that, though, without being specific."

Wadlow continued.

"I hope it will have what fans of X-Force will expect. I think it will be a little edgier, I think you’ll see some characters with different takes on what it means to be a mutant. There will be some grey areas that the movies haven’t yet been explored. It won’t be as “overt.” This movie is more about the grey areas in between."

Wadlow said the word 'grey' twice in a row. Perhaps this is a hint that he is basing his X-Force script on the X-Force team who wears all grey and black uniforms? That's just a guess but one that needed to be said after reading his quote.

In the implied version of the X-Force team, in the comic universe, Wolverine leads the team. It's not definite he will do the same in the movie version because there's so much talk of Cable being the rumored leader of the team since he was the original leader of the first incarnation of the team.

Anything is possible in a movie adaptation so the hardcore X-Force fans need to maintain an open mind as more information becomes available.
