THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 Producers Say Paul Giamatti is "Genuinely Hilarious" in the Sequel

When The Amazing Spider-Man released, trailers teased some humor that actor Andrew Garfield brought to Spider-Man. Spidey's witty banter was sorely lacking in director Sam Raimi's original trilogy while director Marc Webb and Garfield were able to show the beginning of the hero's banter in last year's reboot.

Based on The Amazing Spider-Man 2 footage showed at Comic-Con, Garfield will be even funnier with his banter in the sequel. Not only will Spider-Man have some great one-liners but producers Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach have also confirmed, to the site Den of Geek, actor Paul Giamatti will have hilarious moments in the film, too.

"Paul Giamatti is a jewel of an art-house actor, and you make him this crazy villain. And the Internet goes crazy," Arad said. "This gives us license to say to Paul, 'Go crazy.'
"[He is] genuinely hilarious," Tolmach added.

The producers went into some detail about Giamatti's insane presence in the Spidey sequel.

"[Paul] goes to a place in this movie that is just nuts," Tolmach continued. "We’ve never seen it with anyone.
"And we shot it in the streets," Arad included. "A thousand people are standing around, and they’re cheering him."

Sounds like The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will not only be full of action and drama but will have a good amount of comedy that hasn't been seen in past Spider-Man movies. And this is nothing but a good thing!
