Editorial: DOCTOR STRANGE News and Scoops Dilemma; Why Not ANT-MAN?

The Internet can be a greedy and vicious content hungry consuming monster to the point where it's a fault of itself. Next up on the menu for the Internet to feast on is Marvel Studios' hopeful Doctor Strange movie.

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has teased and teased a potential movie for the good Doctor and it is probably coming in 2016 or 2017 in Marvel's Phase 3 of the cinematic universe. But right now the Internet is hotter than ever with Doctor Strange rumors and potential scoops.

To make things crystal clear, The Daily SuperHero respects all other writers' sources and insiders just as those websites should respect The Daily SuperHero's own. However, there is a big problem with some of the Doctor Strange information that is allegedly leaking out from Marvel and onto several news websites.

First off, The Daily SuperHero can honestly tell fans yes there are rumors in the mill about an announcement for a Doctor Strange movie at the 2013 San Diego Comic Con next month. (And you can take that info with a grain of salt if you choose to, no worries here.) Referencing back to Feige, he has teased it enough to the point where an announcement has to be coming very soon.

Now the rumor about the possible villains in the Doctor Strange movie is nothing more than what is probably in the current draft of the script. Same goes for another rumor that talks about what heroes might show up in the Doctor's film.

But here's the problem with these rumors about heroes and villains. They may actually be in the script right now and there's a very high probability they will not stay in the the script as it goes through its draft revisions. An average film goes through anywhere from 4–10 (or more) revisions over the course of its life and some of those revisions are made while a film is in production and shooting scenes on location. This is common with the movie making process and don't let anyone fool you by saying this is not true.

Could some of these heroes and villains make it into the final draft of the script? Of course they might but to believe they all will—even though a Doctor Strange movie has yet to be announced and wouldn't go into production until 2015 at the earliest—is just a way of convincing yourself to believe false truths and rumors right now.

Finally, what about Ant-Man? Where's all the rumors about heroes and villains in this film since it'll come out at least six months ahead of Doctor Strange. We've hardly heard a peep out of the rumor mill about it.

Truth be told, if there's any movie(s) where casting scoops or even character reveals should be happening for it's The Avengers Sequel and Ant-Man because they are the next two films on the docket for Marvel to put into production. Not Doctor Strange, which isn't even officially green lit by the studio.

"Why Not Ant-Man?" Sounds more logical since its script and pre-production process is further down the road than the Doctor's is. Just sayin'.
