CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER Chase Scene Planned? Cleveland Shoot to Shut Down Over 3 Miles of Highway For 17 Days

Speculation and rumor is starting to run rampant as Marvel Studios' Captain America: The Winter Soldier prepares to shoot in Cleveland, Ohio. What is fact right now are the details of road and highway closures in and around Downtown Cleveland. (Click here to read details about those closures.)

One of the biggest road closures is the western Shoreway (OH-2 and US-20). Starting with its western access point at Lake Ave. and going all the way to the East 9th Street exit ramp, right by the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. For Clevelanders who live on the west side of downtown (like this guy), they will need to take another route to get downtown, if the Shoreway is their main route to take.

The total impact of this closure is huge. Mainly due to the fact that approximately 3.5 miles of highway will be closed starting on May 29 until June 14 (see a map screenshot below). This will increase local traffic on alternate routes and cause more rush hour delay during those 17 days of this location's film shoot.

But now comes the speculation. Without having any knowledge of what will be shot on the Shoreway (yet), it can only be assumed that there will be an extensive chase scene taking place.

Extensive chase scene are the key words being speculated here. Remember The Matrix Reloaded? Remember that highway chase scene in it? Well, those intense action scenes were shot on a fake highway that was constructed in California. That fake highway was 1.5 miles and those scenes were all shot on it.

Taking this into consideration, you can bet an extensive (and maybe elaborate) chase scene will be shot on the Shoreway during its 17 days of closure. No word on where—along this 3.5 mile stretch of the Shoreway—scenes will be staged but shutting down that much freeway means fast cars, action and most likely explosions too.

The best places to try and catch a glimpse of the action will be along Detroit Ave., which runs alongside of the Shoreway between West 45th and West 28th streets. And from Edgewater Park.
