Why a Star Wars solo Yoda movie could be a big hit and become more than one movie

Tuesday, February 5, 2013

For the second straight day, Disney has been the focus of another big movie rumor. But that's what happens when you own huge franchises like Marvel and Star Wars. First was the rumor surrounding Hulk's future in Marvel movies, now it's Star Wars' turn.

According to a nearly unreadable post over on Ain't It Cool News, Disney and Lucasfilm are rumored to be planning a solo Star Wars film featuring the greatest Jedi Master of them all...Yoda.

Disney and Lucasfilm have not confirmed this information when this post was published so until they do, take this with a grain of salt but that doesn't mean a Yoda solo movie wouldn't be a fantastic idea.

Yoda is one of many Star Wars characters whose past has always been somewhat of a mystery. Not much is known about how he become a Jedi, his training, his apprenticeship, his own apprentices besides Qui Gon-Jinn and so on. This solo flick could more or less be the rise of Yoda to the top of the Jedi Counsel.

Talk about years and years and years of history that goes along with Yoda since he was approximately 900 years old when he passed away in Return of the Jedi. There could be endless amounts of stories and adventures to tell that could go well beyond a single movie. Maybe Yoda could even have his own trilogy of movies. Just a thought.

The final reason a Yoda solo movie could be brilliant is for Disney and Star Wars' need for merchandising. A movie like this could produce a tremendous amount of new characters which equals more toys and action figure sales. (The same could be said for a solo Boba Fett movie that has been rumored over the past year or two before Disney bought Star Wars.)

If this is really just a rumor, Disney and Lucasfilm should seriously consider a Yoda film now that the rumor mill has churned out this beauty!
