Marvel Studios Exclusive: As Many as 3 Movies Per Year Possibly Planned For 2015 and Beyond

There are no hotter rumors in Hollywood then those surrounding what Marvel Studios is calling "Phase 2," for their cinematic universe.

The first phase, per the studio, was the path that led them to The Avengers release in theaters this May and started back with the first Iron Man film in 2008. Fours years and six movies later, Marvel is beginning to take a step toward their next ensemble capstone movie, The Avengers 2.

But what about Phase 2 is different?

Phase 2 will consist of the same characters plus new additions of characters via their own solo movie, followed by their induction into an Avengers sequel. Marvel has said they plan to have two films released every year—but with the introduction of maybe Ant-Man, Black Panther, Doctor Strange or even Namor The Sub-Mariner—two films per year won't cut it.

"Marvel's Phase 2 is going to start with only two films per year for 2013 and 2014 but Marvel could be pumping out as many as three per year and as soon as 2015," an inside Hollywood source told us here at The Daily SuperHero.

This logically makes sense, even though Marvel or Disney have not confirmed anything about three movies per year, depending on how many new characters Marvel plans to have a solo movie for. They have also been very clear in saying if a character cannot have a stand alone movie then they won't give the character solo movie at all. However, this doesn't mean some characters cannot be introduced through other Marvel solo flicks just like how Black Widow and Hawkeye were in Iron Man 2 and Thor, respectively.

Regardless, Marvel knows they have their finger firmly planted on the pulse of the film industry right now and fans are sure to love the potential of having three new Marvel movies every year.  In due time this could be a reality.
