SUPERGIRL Season 6 Episode 2 Review: A Few Good Women

So Lex is locked up but Kara is stuck in the Phantom Zone. The team seems to have everything pretty much taken care of in the way of crime-fighting. They capture an alien who acts a lot like a vampire named Silas. Referred to him by J’onn’s brother, they know he attempted to break his husband out of the Phantom Zone. The phantoms force the host to re-live their nightmares. This is what happened to Silas’s husband and he went insane.

Even though he’s doubtful of their success, he agreed to help them. Silas helps them but he is reluctant because of not being able to save his husband. Kelly talks to him and helps to allay his guilt. This helps but J’onn is also getting aggressive with Silas because of how he feels like he failed Kara.

Nia is playing double duty with practicing to find Kara as Dreamer and trying to work at Catco to keep Kara’s location under wraps. She takes on the lead of reporting Lex's eventual conviction with William’s help. Speaking of Luthor, Lex goes against Lillian's wish for him to take a plea deal and rot in prison for 25 years, and goes to trial as his own lawyer. Eve is the main key witness, and Lex twists her words into making her sound like she is guilty. It was pretty impressive, to be honest, but he’s still a bad, bad, man.

Lillian then tries to get Lena to not take the stand so that Lex will go free. Lillian reminds her that she didn’t stop Lex until it was almost too late and that Lena’s reputation will be ruined as well. Lena takes the stand when Eve’s testimony is thrown out as well. Lena tricks him into an old-school sibling showdown where he ultimately makes himself look mighty guilty.

Kara wakes up just in time for the dementor-like things, which are actually called phantoms (go figure), swarm her. She then passes out again and when she wakes up she finds herself in some kind of cave. A man has rescued her and when he turns around she realizes that it is her father. Dun dun duh!

After Kara fills him in on the fact that his wife is also still alive, he tells her that he sent himself to the Phantom Zone in the last ditch effort to stay alive. Apparently, he highly regrets this decision. Kara never faced the phantoms when she was in her pod as a child so she is shaken by the nightmares the phantoms give her about the death of her loved ones.

Kara is resolved to go and find a way out. Her father, however, tells her that fighting against the Phantoms will just incur their wrath. He tells her that surviving in the Phantom Zone is the only option. She tries to leave on her own but she barely makes it out of the cave before she’s attacked again and saved by her father. Eventually, he realizes that she’s not going to stop and agrees to help her. Reluctantly. This man is comfortable living in denial.

Back on Earth, they manage to open a portal to the Phantom Zone, but the Crisis event merges all the Phantom Zones from different dimensions, making it nearly impossible to figure out which one Kara is on. This is the least of their concerns as several Phantoms come through the portal and they have to work together to send them all. Oh, and of course, despite Lena’s best efforts, Lex is found not guilty by the worst jury in the entire world.

The team feels utterly defeated by Lex getting off and the unsuccessful rescue mission of Kara, especially Alex who feels like she might never get her sister back. To make matters worse, Silas has been somehow possessed by a Phantom who exits his body. So now they have this rogue death thing on the run. How fun.
