Marvel Studios' THE ETERNALS Lands its Director

While it hasn't been officially announced, or has a release date yet, Marvel Studios is moving forward with a new franchise titled THE ETERNALS.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the studio has signed on with director Chloe Zhao to helm the movie project. THR writes:

"Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that one aspect to the story involves the love story between Ikaris, a man fueled by cosmic energy, and Sersi, who relishes moving amongst humans."

Previously, writers Matthew and Ryan Firpo were hired to write the script and studio head Kevin Feige must be very happy with it in order to bring Zhao on to direct.

In the comics, THE ETERNALS are basically humans who have been given superpowers and near-immortality by the cosmic entities called the Celestial. In fact, a Celestial has already been introduced in the MCU in form of Star-Lord's father, Ego, played by actor Kurt Russell. (Star-Lord is half-Celestial.)
