FLASHPOINT: Wonder Woman May Have a Role in the Solo Flash Movie

In a closing remark in a Deadline article yesterday, the outlet stated actress Gal Gadot will be reprising her role as Wonder Woman in the solo Flash movie, which is now being called FLASHPOINT.

A couple of things to note about this little tidbit of information:

First, Wonder Woman possibly being in this movie has been rumored for a little while now. Since it is a quick blurb at the end of an article, it seems less like news and sounds more like sharing info that is still unconfirmed.

Second, the solo Flash movie has been in development purgatory for a very long time losing director after director and with at least one full script re-write. In fact, we have not heard anything about potential directors for this film since this past May; and that news front has been very quiet since that old report hit the web.

Next, it was at this summer's San Diego Comic-Con when it was first reported the comic book story arc 'Flashpoint' would be adapted in the solo Flash movie, hence now (unofficially) calling the film FLASHPOINT. Another big piece of this alleged report is how this film could be a way to change the DC Extended Universe timeline, via time travel, in order to replace actor Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne with a new Batman actor who will wear the cape and cowl. None of this has been confirmed by the studio and this is all rumor for right now.

Finally, it is no surprise Warner Bros. would want more Wonder Woman in their DCEU films after the critical and financial success of her first film. She is being positioned as the studio's lead hero and she's replacing Cyborg in a co-starring role in a solo Flash movie — he was previously rumored to co-star in this film.

Warner Bros. is certainly embracing all-things Wonder Woman right now and moving forward which is smart to ride her wave of popularity.

While there is no release date or production timeline set for FLASHPOINT, it does feel like the studio has gotten this movie out of development purgatory and has it moving in a positive direction. Now if they can find the right director to helm the project.

Actor Ezra Miller's Flash will be seen in JUSTICE LEAGUE this fall on November 17.
