SUICIDE SQUAD Makes $20 Million in its 3rd Domestic Weekend and Here's Why That's Impressive

SUICIDE SQUAD is kind of in the business of proving doubters wrong. First, it started out with lots of critical panning and negative reviews but opened with an August domestic weekend record of $133 million. But then it followed up its opening weekend with a big drop-off of 67-percent, which was comparable to the 69-percent drop BATMAN V. SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE saw in its second weekend of release.

Now, SUICIDE SQUAD has done something that BATMAN V. SUPERMAN, CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR nor X-MEN: APOCALYPSE have been able to do and that's have a smaller third weekend percentage drop.

According to box office estimates, SUICIDE SQUAD brought in just over $20M in its third domestic weekend. This equates to only a 52-percent drop in its third weekend.

This 52-percent third weekend percent drop for SUICIDE SQUAD is actually impressive when you compare the third weekend drops of the other 2016 super hero movies like: CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR and BATMAN V. SUPERMAN who both had a 54-percent drop and X-MEN: APOCALYPSE which dropped 56-percent. DEADPOOL is the outlier for super hero movies this year having a minimal 44-percent drop in its third frame. To add to the list of things that are impressive with SUICIDE SQUAD, it came in No. 1 at the domestic box office for its third straight weekend in a row which is something BATMAN V. SUPERMAN and MAN OF STEEL could not accomplish.

Overseas, the villain ensemble movie brought in an estimated $38M to bring its International total to $310M after three weeks of release. While it has brought in an estimated $262M domestically.

Worldwide, SUICIDE SQUAD has amassed over $572M now.
