GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Spoiler: You'll Never Guess Who Was Really Dancing

Guardians of the Galaxy broke box office records for August as it had the largest domestic opening weekend of $94 million. The space movie also brought in a 2014 best $11 million for its Thursday night shows and worldwide did over $160 million.

In other words, it was an even bigger hit than Marvel Studios could have imagined. All the doubters saying the risk of bringing a team of unknown heroes to the big screen was too high for Marvel are now nowhere to be found.

Most have seen Guardians of the Galaxy already but if you have not, please stop reading because things are about to get SPOILERY.

Seriously ... SPOILER ALERT!

Originally, it was going to be a mid-credits scene but writer/director James Gunn said (via SlashFilm) it was received so well during screening he decided to include the dancing Groot bit right after the movie ended.

“Honestly, that [scene] was supposed to be either mid-credits or end-credits, but when we showed it to the test audience, they loved it so much! We were like ‘We don’t want people walking out and missing this this,’ so we put it right there after the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Will Return’ thing.”

Gunn also revealed it was actually him dancing for "Baby Groot" in that scene too.

"Little spoiler for the audience, that tree dancing is me. I’m not motion-captured, but I’m motion-referenced and that is 100% me dancing… "

Let's see those moves!
