THOR 3 Will Most Likely Release in Theaters After CAPTAIN AMERICA 3 and DOCTOR STRANGE, Maybe After GUARDIANS 2 Too

Right now Avengers: Age of Ultron is more than halfway done in its production cycle and nearing the start of post-production. Ant-Man starts filming on August 18 in San Francisco and (mostly) Atlanta. Captain America 3 already has a release date set for May 6, 2016 with the Russo brothers back to direct and should start filming in the first half of 2015. Finally, Doctor Strange has a writer and director attached but not a release date (yet).

Yes Marvel Studios is busy but what about Thor 3?

So far there's only been a tease by screenwriter Christopher Yost, who posted to his Twitter account on June 25 that he's been writing the next Thor movie.

With three Marvel Studios film releases coming in 2017—one of those being Guardians of the Galaxy 2 in July 2017—it is assumed that Thor 3 is being targeted for a 2017 release, too. Especially after Marvel stole secured a May 2018 release date for an untitled film, which is now assumed to be Avengers 3.

At Comic-Con, actor Chris Helmsworth was asked when filming starts for Thor 3, via Collider.com, and even the God of Thunder said that there's lots of time.

“Yeah I got a lot of time. I don’t think it’s just yet, Thor 3. I think it’s a ways away.”

Thor 3 does not have a director while both Captain America 3 and Doctor Strange both do. In other words, and based on simple deduction, Thor 3 will most likely come out after Cap and the good Doctor hit the big screen. It may also release after Guardians of the Galaxy 2 since that even has James Gunn returning to write and direct it.

Thor: The Dark World performed very well in November 2013 so Marvel might be eyeing the open release date they already have set for an untitled film on November 3, 2017. Makes logical sense.
