CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER's Maria Hill Says Sequel is "All About S.H.I.E.L.D."

Unless you were living off the grid in last spring/early summer of this year, you probably know that scenes for Captain America: The Winter Soldier that were filmed in Downtown Cleveland saw S.H.I.E.L.D. agents and police chasing after Nick Fury, Steve Rogers, Black Widow and other heroes. There is obviously a split down the middle of S.H.I.E.L.D. and an internal conflict within the organization.

Maria Hill actor Cobie Smulders spoke with IGN about S.H.I.E.L.D.'s presence in the Cap sequel and hinted at the possible moment the internal takeover of the organization happens.

"Yeah, the world is a very unstable place. You know, there’s so much I can’t say... It’s very hard. But Cap and Romanoff are basically Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and they go off and do one thing. We’re overseeing everything, and there’s a communication breakdown... I can’t say anything! But it is very much about S.H.I.E.L.D. -- it’s all about S.H.I.E.L.D., basically. But there are so many different components to that agency. Maria plays a small part in the S.H.I.E.L.D. universe, but I like to think an important one."

In the comic universe, Hill always has some kind of conflict with Fury and his decisions. Smulders briefly touched on the topic of her relationship with Fury in Cap's next movie.

"Yeah, we were definitely pushing that in The Avengers. In Cap 2 you see another side of their relationship."

Captain America: The Winter Soldier releases in theaters on April 4, 2014.
