STAR WARS EPISODE VII: Production and SDCC 2013 Rumor Talk

One of the hottest franchise's of all-time has an official filming location in the U.K. and will begin production in early 2014. The franchise movie is none other than Star Wars Episode VII.

This movie will be one of the most highly guarded films to be ever made and director J.J. Abrams is known for his tight-knit security measures and rare production leaks and set photos. But this doesn't mean any words behind closed doors are on lock down right now.

According to one of The Daily SuperHero's insiders, some things are being heard in the rumor mills right now regarding the production of the next Star Wars movie. First up, it's looking like the movie will film at the Pinewood or Shepperton Studios in the U.K.

Second, the budget being considered may be north of $250 million and potentially topping out in the $300-plus million range. Disney is no stranger to putting in a ton of cash into their blockbusters as The Avengers had a budget in the range of $250 million and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest had a $300 million budget. In other words, Star Wars Episode VII having a budget in the same range is nothing shocking, or new, to the company.

Taking a look at recent comments by actor Mark Hamill, he hinted that a blend of real sets and practical effects with a mix of CGI have been talked about behind closed doors a few months back. The prequel films used mainly green screen sets on a sound stage while the originals had elaborate set pieces, locations and practical effects. The latter seems to be the direction of Episode VII since Disney has been using practical effects, real-life locations and elaborate sets for their Marvel and Pirates films. these are all expensive ways of filming movies, hence the potentially high budget.

Another rumor being whispered around the mill says that Disney and Lucasfilm might officially announce the return of some of the original cast members at the 2013 San Diego Comic-Con next month. Not much of a secret, though, since everyone knows this will probably happen but having a 'when' attached to the announcement is an exciting thought.

With Star Wars Episode VII being shrouded in secrecy, take this information with a grain of salt but none of it is really outside the realm of possibility too. Fans are waiting for confirmed news and with SDCC right around the corner, there's a chance they may not have to wait much longer for it.
